Ecotourism Site Spotlght: Palaui Island


Palaui Island Protected Landscape and Seascape can be found 642 kilometers from Manila, at the northeastern-most part of Luzon. In 2012, CNN recognized it as the 25th among the top 100 beaches in the world and in the succeeding year, it ranked 10th among the top 100. It is considered a high-value destination in the province of Cagayan.

Survivor USA shot two seasons in Palaui in 2013 which increased the popularity of the island. ​
The Palaui Environmental Protectors’ Association (PEPA) is an organization composed of the residents of the island who are actively engaged in providing various services to visitors. Blue Water Consultancy provided guideship, community spa management, camp site development and trail management training, among others, to capacitate the local residents in order to provide the necessary services to the visitors of the island.
